Junior Liturgy
Last Wednesday the students in the Junior school at St Joseph's held their special liturgy looking at and celebrating the different cultures that make up our school community. They offered gifts from the cultures and sang about the importance of us all being friends. It was a special occasion to be a part of.
At the end of their liturgy the children shared a meal where they sampled foods from many different cultures including Mexico, China, Japan, and many others. Thank you to all the parents who joined the celebration and helped with preparations.

Guns At School Or Not!!!
The Bosses at Hampden school were allowing the children to bring toy guns to school.
So Pohutukawa discussed and wrote emails to the Oamaru Mail. Some of the children wrote emails to say if they agreed or not. Twenty four people said "We don't agree" and one person said "I do agree that they should be able to bring toy guns to school." Eight children from Pohutukawa who wrote the emails had their pictures taken and put in the Oamaru Mail. Look in the papers for their story.

Once it was over, the crowd went wild.
Then it died down.
Mrs Brookes (The Choir teacher) was so proud.

Before we went out side Laurie talked to us about were they go to find drugs. They travel all around Canterbury and Southland/Otago. Murphy is always on patrol he will never stop. Laurie hid stuff in the hedge and Murphy had to find them. Murphy found the first stick of cannibas easy. But when he tried to find the bag it took him about 5 minutes but eventually he found it. We would like to thank Laurie and Murphy for coming.

Save The World!!!
On Thursday 24Th of July a group of actors from the Keep Dunedin Beautiful Society came to St Joseph's School Oamaru to perform a play about what will happen if we don't Reduce,Reuse and Recycle. The characters were Brainy,Zany and Brainy's sister Helga. Brainy and Zany kept getting emergency post cards from the future telling them what was happening because people hadn't cared for the enviromemt. They put the production on so we could know what to do to keep N.Z clean. The message was that every little thing counts.
